FAQ

What is the cost to hire Heart of a Child?

Cost depends on the location, the length, what services are required and the type of event.
Travel rates will apply for events outside of 50 km radius of Lacombe at a rate of 0.60/km round trip.
Please
contact Heart of a Child for more details.

What form of payment does Heart of a Child accept?

Heart of a Child will accept cash, e-transfer, business cheque, debit card and credit cards (VISA/Mastercard). Payment must be made before the event, on arrival, or 15 minutes before your service is complete. Often we are fully booked with very little turn around time, so it is important for payments to be settled before the end of the event.

Does Heart of a Child carry insurance?

Heart of a Child is fully insured through Toronto Clown Alley and can provide a Certificate of Insurance for your event, if needed.  All of our workers have current Criminal Record Checks completed.

What do I need to provide for my event?

For Birthday Parties and a small events, please have a minimum 4'x4' space with lights.  If a table can be provided for the face painter, that would be helpful.  If the event is outside, a shaded area is required, or space to place a 10'x10' tent. Heart of a Child will provide all their other supplies.
For large events or festivals, if you could provide a table and chairs for the face painter that helps greatly.
If your event is  outside, please have a tent with sides and weights.

Why doesn't Heart of a Child paint or provide balloons for children under 3 years?

Although Angela uses safe paints, some paints are not recommended for children under 3 years.
This is also a safety issue to protect toddlers as their skin is much more sensitive than that of an older child.

Animal balloons are mouth-sized and therefore choking hazards.  If popped in the mouth, there is enough air pressure to cause the latex pieces to be forced into the lungs. This would require surgery to remove.

We love children and desire to keep them safe and healthy.
This policy is also required by our insurance provider in order to keep our insurance.

What type of face paint is used and how can I remove it?

Only FDA approved face paint makeup, body glitters and adhesives are used. Like any make-up or cosmetic products, some people will have sensitivities & could experience negative reactions such as discomfort or rashes. This is a rare occurrence but if you do have a concern that this could happen to you or your child, DO NOT get face painted.

Face paint will wash off with soap and warm water or cleansing cream. Some colours, particularly greens, may cause slight staining but will wash off.

Glitter tattoos can be removed with baby oil or alcohol.

We have a big event. Can Heart of a Child provide other face painters?

Yes, we can arrange it for you. Please  contact Heart of a Child

We have a charity event. Can Heart of a Child work for free or give us a discount?

We get many requests like this from charities and non-profit organizations. If we accept one request, we would have to accept them all to make it fair. Since this income is how we make ends meet, we are unable to do this.
At the beginning of each year, Heart of a Child selects a charity to donate to. This is their way of giving back to the community.
